Location. The Phoenicia Hotel is located in the centre of Valletta, Malta, 200 metres from the beach and 300 metres from the Grand Harbour. St. John's Co-Cathedral with Caravaggio's Beheading of St. John the Baptist, the Grand Master's Palace and the War Museum are steps away from the hote.
Hotel Features. The Phonicia Hotel is set on seven acres of terraced gardens and private pool deck surrounded by 16th century bastions overlooking the harbour. There is a library, hair salon and jewellery shop on site. Staff at the concierge desk can provide information on Malta attractions, and there is a currency exchange. During the summer the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to a beach nearby. Airport transportation (surcharge) can be arranged, and there is complimentary valet parking.
Breakfast is available (surcharge) in the Phoenix Restaurant, which serves local and Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner. Pastas and salads are on the menu in the more informal Pegasus Brasserie. The Palm Court Lounge offers high tea, homemade cakes and lunch in spacious surroundings with comfortable sofas. Decorated in a colonial style, the Club Bar has an extensive list of wines, cocktails and champagne. The Pool Deck snack bar serves fresh fish and salads beside the outdoor pool.
The hotel has six meeting rooms, including a ballroom with capacity for 300 people. Wireless Internet access is available in the lobby for a surcharge. Computers are available in the business centre and laptops can be rented (advanced notice required).
Guests can relax in the outdoor hot tub, swim in the outdoor pool and play on the mini-golf course. There is also a fitness room.
Guestrooms. The Phoenicia Hotel's 136 climate-controlled guestrooms are decorated with a white-wash colour scheme and Lloyd and Loom furniture. Rooms have high-speed Internet connections (surcharge), satellite television, safes, minibars and tea/coffee making facilities. Bathrooms have bath/shower combinations and telephones.
Expert Tip. Mdina, Malta's historic 'Silent City', is just 12 kilometres from the hotel.

From Malta International Airport (MLA): Distance to Le Meridien Phoenicia hotel is eight kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Fixed rate taxis run between the airport and towns across the island. Fares are approximately 6 MTL to the capital Valletta, 8 MTL to St Julians, Attard and Sliema, and 10 MTL to Bugibba and Qawra. Pre-paid tickets can be purchased from the taxi desk at Arrivals. Bus number 8 runs between the airport and Valletta's main bus terminus every 20 minutes. For travel to Gozo, visitors should travel to the port by taxi, and then take a catamaran or ferry. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes. There is a heliport at the airport for helicopter flights to Gozo. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. The hotel is located on The Mall in central Valetta. A network of buses connects Malta to the main resorts. A day bus pass costs 1.50 MTL. A car is recommended for exploring further afield. Gozo is easily explored by bicycle, on foot, or on bus. High-speed catamarans and ferries operate between Gozo and Malta (Valletta). Complimentary valet parking is available.
Driving directions. From Malta International Airport:
Go straight across the roundabout, following signs for Valletta.
Turn right at the second roundabout, and left at the third.
At the end of the hill, turn left and then right into the main road.
Drive north towards Valletta, passing Portes des Bombes, towards Floriana.
Continue straight to a large roundabout, and turn left just before the roundabout.
The hotel is at the top of the hill on the right.
