L'HOTEL:
Situated in a quiet side street above the resort of Agia Galini, the modern Hotel Avra is a a 500 meter walk from the fishing harbor and port, and one kilometer from beautiful sand and shingle beaches. Rethymnon town, with its fortress, is 52 kilometers away. The 25 guestrooms have balconies and are furnished in a country style with rustic dark wooden furniture. All 25 rooms are equipped with telephones and private bathrooms with showers, and air conditioning is available on request.
Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, there is a bar, and breakfast is served each morning. Free parking is available onsite and there is a safe- deposit box provided at the front desk. For visitors wishing to explore the island, a hire car is recommended and there are many sites of historic interest nearby. Having become a city during the Venetian occupation, Rethymnon maintains buildings dating from the 16th century, Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains, a small Venetian harbor and an old Venetian castle and monastery. The hotel is 90 kilometers from Heraklion Airport.

A T THE BOTTOM OF THE EXIT ROAD, TURN RIGHT AND STAY ON THIS ROAD FOR SOME TIM E UNTIL REACHING A MAIN JUNCTION JUST PASS THE RUINS OF GORTYS. TURN RIGHT H ERE IN THE DIRECTION OF MIRES AND TIMBAKI. THEN FOLLOW THE SIGNS FOR AGIA GA LINI. WHEN ENTERING TO THE TOWN, LOOK OUT FOR THE HOTEL SIGNS AND FOLLOW THE ROAD UPHILL TO THE RIGHT.
